Aker Solutions have secured a contract with the Brazilian national petroleum company Petrobras to supply eight deep-water subsea manifolds.
The deal worth more than USD 300 million (GBP 178 million) is for the supply and installation of eight subsea manifolds to inject gas and water alternately to increase the recovery from Brazil’s deepwater offshore oil fields. The specially commissioned manifolds are to be designed to operate at depths of 2,500 meters (8,202 feet) and will have a design life of 30 years.
The build will take place at Aker Solutions recently expanded Brazilian subsea division in Curitiba, with around 70% of all the procurement and manufacture taking place in Brazil.
When delivered in 2016, the subsea manifolds will be installed jointly by Petrobras and its partners.
“We are pleased to work with Petrobras on its important and technically challenging pre-salt developments,” said Øyvind Eriksen, executive chairman of Aker Solutions. “Brazil is a key market for our subsea technology and one of the fastest-growing areas in the oil and gas industry.”
“Aker Solutions is committed to delivering high local content in Brazil, where demand for complex subsea production equipment is growing,” said Luis Araujo, president for Aker Solutions in Brazil.Last updated on 02:12PM - 04/05/14
