Global industrial and engineering firm, Amec Foster Wheeler, has announced that it will expand its operations further into the UAE, after multiple contract awards in recent months.
The London based firm specialises in servicing the global offshore oil and gas industry, providing a host of services, from design and engineering, to procurement and construction.
Amec said the Middle East remains a strong market even though Europe, the US and Asia are currently stalling.
Back in August, the firm announced an extension on a contract for the Arabian Gulf’s second biggest oil field, the Upper Zakum field, offshore Abu Dhabi.
Amec’s Middle East base, in Abu Dhabi, currently employs over 700 staff and supports around 2000 across the Middle East.
Talking on the announcement, Amec Foster Wheeler’s President for Middle East and Africa, Garry Dryburgh said, “The Middle East holds significant opportunities for Amec Foster Wheeler and this expansion is in line with our long-term growth plans.”
“This expansion enables a more integrated service offering to our customers in the UAE and across the Middle East and marks a significant chapter in our operations here. We look forward to our continued growth in the UAE.”
Amec has also hinted that it aims to further expand its non hydrocarbon activities in the region through the office.
