Amec Foster Wheeler have announced three contract wins for work on the BP Glen Lyon FPSO, that is set to create both onshore and offshore jobs.
The UK based firm announced the news Wednesday (16th), stating that the total value of the contract is worth £31.5 million (US$47.4 m).
BP Glen Lyon FPSO
The BP Glen Lyon Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) vessel, is a new build, recently constructed in Hyundai’s ship yard in South Korea. The Glen Lyon will be replacing the now removed Schiehallion FPSO, stationed on the field of the same name.
The new FPSO is currently on route to the to the field, and is set to produce from both Schiehallion and Loyal fields, in the UK West of Shetland Basin, once commissioned. The work is part of a £3 billion (US$4.6 bn) redevelopment of the area, the will extent the fields life to at least 2035.
In total, Amec has been awarded three separate contracts on the BP project.
The first and biggest contract will see Amec provide hookup and commissioning services to the FPSO. The work is set to start as soon as the new Glen Lyon FPSO is in field and will continue to June 2017. The deal is worth £27 million (US$40.5 m).
Amec will also supply the project with follow on engineering, on works that may arise from unforeseen project related work. This contract is to cover all works of this nature that arises from when the vessel leaves the Hyundai yard in Korea to the end of 2017.
Completions and commissioning work has been awarded to Amec’s recently acquired Qedi. The company, now Amec’s specialist completions and commissioning arm, will also be providing instrumentation and electrical technicians to Glen Lyon, in a contract worth £2 million (US$3 m).
Amec have said that the three contracts are set to create at least 150 jobs, with 50 roles being offshore, and 100 being onshore engineering.
