Offshore drilling contractors Archer have announced an extension to their contract with US based Apache Corporation.
The contract cover all UK North Sea assets currently staffed by Archer workers, which currently includes the Forties and Beryl offshore oil and gas fields.
The extension is one of two options that was written into the original contract, and will last for one year.
This year like most offshore drilling companies, Archer has had a torrid time, having to cut jobs by as many as 1,500, though it is hoped that the Apache contract will help to stem the tied of losses.
Managing Director of Archer U.K, Kenny Dey, said “We are very pleased to have been awarded this contract extension. It is excellent news for Archer and illustrates the hard work and commitment which our personnel put into delivering a safe environment for all those engaged on the Apache assets whilst ensuring support in delivering Apache’s high level of operational efficiency,”
“We look forward to continuing our working relationship with Apache through the duration of the contract.”
