Royal Boskalis secures work offshore Middle East with Abu Dhabi’s National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC).
The contract will see Boskalis perform the pre and post installation work for a new subsea pipeline, as well as further backfilling work on an existing gas line.

Netherlands based Boskalis will dredge a trench along the 31 mile (50km) course, between the offshore Das Island and the onshore processing facility at Ras Al Qila, Abu Dhabi, pre-installation before performing backfill work once the pipeline has been installed.
The company said “For this project a medium-sized trailing suction hopper dredger and a large cutter suction dredger will be deployed as well as backhoe dredgers for dredging in shallow waters.”
Additional work has also been awarded as part of the contract tasking Boskalis will the backfilling of an existing offshore pipeline, over a total distance of 21 miles (34km), by using a trailing suction hopper dredger.
Work is scheduled to commence during the second quarter of 2016 and, due to the work’s phased nature, is scheduled to be completed during the second half of 2017.
