The Teekay owned cylindrical FPSO, has been operating for Centrica Energy in their Chestnut field in the Central North

Sea since 2008. Located 200km north-east of Aberdeen, the Chestnut field is currently producing around 7,000 barrels per day with the Hummingbird having already produced in excess 13 million barrels of oil.  The 12 month extension goes on top of a two year extension agreed last year that secured the Hummingbird on location till March 2015.

Initially expected to produce around seven million barrels of oil over 3 years, the Chestnut field is now expected to continue after water injection facilities were added. Its now estimated that recoverable reserves are around 18m barrels.

The first vessel of its kind in the North Sea, the Hummingbird Spirit can store in excess of 200,000 barrels of oil, with multiple, flexible risers carrying oil from two production wells and water to a single injection well.

This further extension sees added security for the mainly Wood Group PSN workforce- the duty holders of the
Hummingbird.
