The Statoil operated Gullfaks B oil and gas platform, has failed a recent inspection, from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA).
The released report, showed that the North Sea platform had been given a ‘Non-conformity’ over the state of its evacuation escape routes.
The PSA highlighted the fact that maintenance routines had not been carried out in accordance with standards.
Further, the Norwegian PSA also found the platform to be in breach in two other areas, ‘Incompatible work tasks’ and ‘Training of emergency response personnel’.
For both instances, the PSA issued Gullfaks B and operators Statoil with two improvement points.
The inspection was carried out on the Norwegian North Sea oil and gas platform between 9th – 11th September 2015.
The PSA has now set a deadline of the 5th November 2015, by which time, Statoil must report directly to the PSA on how it plans to deal with the points raised.
