Job Description:

Amec Foster Wheeler is currently recruiting for a Technical Author who has worked as a production technician or engineer previously. You will have experience in the offshore oil and gas industry and have written procedures and manuals. The work is based in either Willton,Teesside or Hull within Attric offices. Duration: Up until end of 2017 initially.

The scope of work is producing Operating Procedures and Operating Manuals for an Offshore Gas/Condensate platform and associated FSO vessel. Operations experience is essential along with previous experience of writing procedures and manuals. Marine/FSO experience is highly desirable when matched with experience of writing procedures and manuals.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Authorship of technical documentation, predominantly oil and gas up and midstream operations and maintenance manuals.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Authorship of technical documentation:
  • Predominantly oil and gas asset up and midstream operations and maintenance manuals and procedures
  • Training support and HSSE materials
  • Ad hoc brochures and marketing materials
  • Authorship and technical / editorial expertise to service the company's needs
  • Continuous update to controlled documents through the technical analysis of management of change and service work requests
  • Proof reading and marking up of materials produced by others
  • Sketch / draw draft schematics / illustrations
  • Maintain knowledge base
  • Interface with Publications Team, Document Control, Drawing Office and Maintenance Office in the delivery of the Technical Publications aspects of a quality integrated service provision to our clients
  • Use electronic document / information management systems
  • Use company and department time, work and management systems
  • Interface with department administrator and manager to provide data on workflow, status, progress and issues relating to assigned duties
  • Provide subject matter expertise on specialist areas
  • Technical and editorial quality assurance
  • Supervision of authoring team assigned to same projects
  • Competence and performance

ESSENTIAL

  • Minimum Grade C GCSE English, Mathematics, and Science or Technology
  • Graduate, HND or equivalent vocational training.

DESIRABLE

  • English, mathematics, physics or engineering 'A' levels (or equivalent)
  • Engineering degree
  • Offshore (BOSIET & MIST)
  • UKOOA Medical
