Job Description:

Amec Foster Wheeler's Transmission and Distribution business has won a major new contract and we are looking to build our existing team; we are looking for an Electrical Engineer with background and experience in Designing High voltage Substations.

As Senior Electrical Plant Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring technical quality and suitability of all deliverables on the project meeting all technical, construction and operation and maintenance requirements and produced with due account of Safety by design and our More for less approach.

You will provide direction in the production of engineering deliverables on project and ensure all deliverables are produced to meet the project, client, Amec Foster Wheeler and contract requirements. You will also be responsible for ensuring full implementation of Quality Assurance and Control for all deliverables and provide Approval and Checking where necessary for all design deliverables.

Role Specific Requirements:

  • Sound knowledge of AIS and GIS equipment and layouts of substation up to 400kV
  • Ability to design site layout and prepare drawings for:
    transformers
    switchgear
    busbars
  • Proven knowledge for specifying appropriate AIS and GIS substation plant
  • Support production of standard technical specifications based on IEC and British Standards
  • Participate in meetings as required
  • Ensure quality assurance system compliance and conduct periodic reviews

Essential

  • Formal engineering qualification from further education
  • Extensive experience in engineering delivery in a regulated and high safety critical sector
  • Applicable Engineering Tools for role - In line with CAS role requirement for each task
  • Good Interpersonal Skills
  • Experienced leading technical teams

Desirable

  • Membership to an engineering institution
  • Experience in the Transmission and Distribution sector
