UK-based PJ Valves announced today it has been awarded more than £1 million worth of contracts to supply over 1,000 valves to Maersk Oil’s Culzean field in the UK North Sea.
Under the agreements, the company will manufacture forged cast gate and check valves in super duplex and super alloys for the well head, living and central processing platforms.
“We are delighted to be working on such a historic project. This contract is a validation of our global territory model whereby we build relationships with project teams in each region”, PJ Valves Sales Director Spencer Linsell, said.
Maersk Awards New Contract for Culzean
“Furthermore, our European manufacturing expertise in forged steel produces the highest quality of valves for frequent use in the most demanding industry applications,” Linsell added.
The package is expected to be delivered in 2017.
Additionally, the company has subsequently been awarded contracts for the compressor, metering and water treatment packages.
“PJV was awarded the contract because of its extensive North Sea experience and specialist Italian manufacturing capabilities, which meet the project’s high standards for quality”, the company informed in a statement.
Culzean Gas Development Will Provide 5% of UK Gas
The Culzean gas field is expected to reach a peak production rate of 400 to 500 cubic feet of gas per day, the equivalent to approximately 5% of the UK’s total gas consumption by 2020.
The development is operated by Maersk and was discovered in 2008. Production is expected to start in 2019 and continue into the 2030s, with plateau production of 60,000 – 90,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
BP recently announced it has raised its interest in the development from 16% to 32% in an attempt to refresh its North Sea portfolio and support the development of UK fields.
