Noble Corporation Will Plead Guilty To Alaskan Violation

Noble Drilling will be entering a guilty plea under maritime and felony environmental crimes for operating the Noble Discoverer drill ship in violation of state law.

The incident, which also included illegal operation of the Kulluk drilling unit, was contrary to Alaskan law when the incidents occurred in 2012. The company has entered a plea agreement which has been filed in a federal court and sees the company entering a guilty plea for eight offences.

Accordingly, they will pay a fine of $12.2 million, implement a new compliance plan, meet community service requirements and be on probation for a period of four years.
