Odfjell Drilling win UK West of Shetland offshore drilling work for the semisubmersible driller Deepsea Stavanger.
The contract was announced Monday 18th January with Odfjell saying “The contract with JX Nippon secures interim utilisation of Deepsea Stavanger before start-up of the Wintershall drilling contract in 2017.”

The contract will see Odfjell Drilling complete one exploration well in the West of Shetland basin for Japanese based JX Nippon Exploration and Production.
Work on the exploration well is expected to start in the second quarter of 2016 and take between 60 to 75 days to complete.

The Odfjell Deepsea Stavanger, is a semisubmersible offshore drilling rig, designed to operate in water depths of 10,000 feet (3048m) and drill to a depth of 37,500 feet (11,430m).
Deepsea Stavanger was delivered in 2010 by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) in Korea.
