Perenco, who’s UK operations span the southern North Sea, has confirmed that it plans to move its UK business HQ away from its current location in Yarmouth to Norwich.
The company recently wrote to all staff to announce the move. In 2012, the business purchased a series of platforms from BP, concluding a deal worth over £250 million. Since then, its operations in the North Sea have expanded rapidly, and it will now need to upscale its onshore support capabilities.
A Perenco spokesperson confirmed that the company was still committed to retaining its headquarters in the Great Yarmouth region and would retain a ‘sizeable’ operational presence in Yarmouth itself, with a new operations warehouse opened earlier this month. The company is a significant local employer and it brings sizeable economic benefits to the area.
Perenco is the biggest of the southern North Sea gas platform operators, and it owns six platforms that connect to East Yorkshire and the North Norfolk coast.
