An Offset Well, is a term used to refer to a well that is drilled next to or near by another.

Typically this is done during the exploration faze, when multiple exploratory wells are drilled in close proximity, in order to gather as much data as possible.

This data will in turn be used by the well planners and engineers to ensure the finial production well is drilled and constructed to be as profitable as possible.
