Rowan wins BP offshore drilling work, for the Joe Douglas jackup rig, according to the firm’s latest fleet status update.

In the report, Rowan Companies stated that the work will see the Joe Douglas rig work in water offshore Trinidad for an estimated duration of 300 days.

Drilling operations are due to commence 1st August 2016, after a planned yard stay, on a day rate of US$175,000.

Rowan also highlighted details of two further drilling rigs on its books, the Rowan Louisiana and the Rowan Gorilla III.

The Houston based firm said that the Rowan Gorilla III drilling rig had been cold stacked, whilst the Rowan Louisiana drilling rig had been sold during the fourth quarter of 2015.

The Joe Douglas drilling rig is of jackup design, delivered in 2011, and capable of drilling in a water depth of 350 feet (107m) and drill to a depth of 35,000 feet (10,668m).
