Wood Group Wins Saudi Aramco Offshore Contract

Wood Group has won a contract for offshore engineering and offshore construction management services from Saudi sate, Saudi Aramco. The contract is for an initial duration of six years, and covers both greenfield and brownfield engineering services, including procurement and construction management for all new Saudi Aramco facilities in the Arabian Gulf. The contract also includes a further two, three year options. The contract also requires Wood Group to establish and implement an ‘Engineering Centre of Excellence’, to be located in the costal city of Al Khobar, in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. Wood Group has handed the work to its US based, ‘Wood Group Mustang’, which will in turn operate through a pre-existing joint venture in the Saudi Kingdom called ‘Mustang-HDP’ in order to execute the contract. Mustang-HDP was initially set up in 2011, when Wood Group first undertook engineering work for Saudi Aramco. Through that initial joint venture, Wood Group sought to establish themselves, not only with Saud Aramco, but in a wider capacity for offshore oil and gas engineering services within the Arabian Gulf.
