Talisman Energy disappears from the oil and gas industry, as owners Repsol ditch the name in a rebranding exercise.
Canadian based Talisman Energy was acquired by Repsol, back in February 2015, in a deal worth US%8.3 billion.
The rebranding finalises the acquisition of Talisman by the Spanish upstream oil and gas major, with the company now legally known as ‘Repsol Oil & Gas Canada Inc’.
In a press release, Repsol said the name was effective from 1st January 2016, with all subsidiaries covered in the move.
However, Repsol stressed that the name changes do not in any way create any new legal entities. The company stressed further that the rebranding would also not effect any obligations or rights in connection to existing agreements, nor oil and gas permits or licences.
The ‘Talisman Sinopec’ brand, operating across theUK and Norwegian North Sea, is expected to stay for the foreseeable future with no plans to change.
The company is a joint venture, drawn up be Talisman and Chinese state run Sinopec, back in 2012.
