Well intervention work starts on Vega field, as operators Wintershall get the green light to use two Island Offshore vessels to conduct the work.
The German based oil and gas production firm, had previously submitted an application to the Norwegian Petroleum Authority (PSA) to, complete the well intervention work using the two mobile drilling vessels, the Island Frontier and Island Wellserver.
Well Intervention Work Starts On Vega Field
Today the PSA announced that it had granted its consent to Wintershall, allowing the work to go ahead with both vessels.
The field consists of three separate gas and condensate occurrences: 35/8-1, 35/8-2 Vega and 35/11-2 Vega Sør. A combined PDO for Vega and Vega Sør was approved by the authorities in June 2007.
Vega has been developed using three subsea templates, at a water depth of 1,214 feet (370m), tied back to the Gjøa field processing facility.
